Honor launches Honor View 20 in China

Honor has launched its latest flagship phone – the Honor View 20 in China today. HONOR View20 will be available with the price starting from RMB 2,999. The official sale in China will start from December 28.
The HONOR View20 is equipped with the world’s first high-definition 48MP rear 3D TOF camera and a front-facing 25MP camera integrated into the display. This innovative All-View display design doesn’t impact the display function – instead, it allows a notch-less viewing experience, achieves a stunning 91.8% body-to-screen ratio, and enables users to take the best photos possible, all at the same time.
From a design perspective, HONOR View20 breaks the mould of traditional flagship smartphones in both dimension and style. It is the first smartphone to use advanced nanolithography technology to develop an invisible nano texture on the body. The fourth generation of nano-vacuum coating and invisible aurora texture process create a vivid and dynamic V-shape color gradient with gleaming effect. Furthermore, HONOR has unveiled a crossover collaboration with Italian fashion brand MOSCHINO and launched the HONOR View20 MOSCHINO joint design edition.
World’s first ultra-clarity 48MP 3D TOF rear camera
For smartphone photography, nothing is more important than photo quality and clarity, and HONOR View20 is bringing these measures to new highs. The rear camera of the HONOR View20 the first ever to be powered by the Sony IMX586 stacked CMOS image sensor, which features 48 effective megapixels on a ½-inch sensor (0.8 um/pixel) unit to deliver excellent image quality. As a result, you’ll see richer details and more vibrant colors in the AI-optimized shots taken with the HONOR View20. In addition, the dual-NPU and dual-ISP Kirin 980 chipset has improved the image and camera processing capabilities of the phone by 134% and 46% respectively. Combined with the already astonishing power of the camera’s 48MP sensor, the result is unprecedented mobile photography potential.
Another trimming of this remarkable rear camera is its 3D functionality which makes the phone capable of creating a new dimension in photography and videography that brings greater usability and fun to users. The 3D camera is a range imaging camera system that calculates distance based upon the time-of-flight of a light signal.
Extraordinary All-View display with in-screen camera
The notched display, one of 2018’s most popular trends, was developed to satisfy the demand for a higher screen-to-body ratio. However, there are limits to what can be done with this solution. Just as we are eager to see how smartphone manufacturers are going to take the design a step further, the HONOR View20 comes on stage, sporting an extraordinary All-View display with an in-screen front camera, heralding a new era of display design. A super small hole with a diameter of only 4.5mm instead of 6.0mm is created at the top left corner to house the front-facing camera and making for a considerable increase in display area. Instead of drilling a hole that penetrates through all layers of the screen with only a glass panel covers the camera as rivals do, HONOR retains a few layers by adopting a special technique called pixel transition technology, an extremely complex 18-layer technology stack. This technique effectively reduces the impact on the display structure to improve durability and cuts down the interference of the light from the display to improve overall photo quality. The 18 layers of complex processes are refined, so that the display area of a new screen camera is significantly reduced, bringing users a near 100% full screen experience.

Camera: AI dual camera trend is catching up but at just 11,999 INR, Honor 8C is perhaps the most cost-effective smartphone. The 13MP+2MP AI camera setup with an aperture of f1.8 can recognise over 500 scenes and 22 categories. Other phones in the same price range only offer non-AI camera.

Honor is coming with something amazing in camera which is going to blow your minds

Well, as the headline says Honor is bringing something jaw dropping to the scene which is going to change the way you looked at phone cameras. Well, as you may have easily guessed, it is about the Mega Pixel game; but it’s just a part of it. Yeah, you heard it right!

Now just imagine the quality of the photos taken from that camera. The clarity will be unbelievable and quality unmatched. But like I already mentioned, the mega pixel play is not the only game changer here.

Why to buy Honor 8C?

Honor 8C has made its debut in India a few days ago. This is a midrange device with specs and features that can give phones above its price range a run for their money. So if you ask me why you should buy Honro 8C, I will have to throw light to some important aspects that help the phone stand out.

The massive battery: In a time when outlandishly expensive phones come with batteries as low as 3000 mAh, it is a steal deal to buy an Honor 8C which houses a massive 4000 mAh battery for just 11,999 INR. So time to say goodbye to power banks!

The best in class processor: The processor is often called the brain of a smartphone and Honor 8C knows how to take care of its driving force. That’s the reason Honor 8C is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 processor which delivers to the tee.

AI dual camera: AI dual camera trend is catching up but at just 11,999 INR, Honor 8C is perhaps the most cost-effective smartphone. The 13MP+2MP AI camera setup can recognise over 500 scenes and 22 categories.

TUV Rheinland certification: Honor 8C has earned the TUV Rheinland certification for its excellent blue light filter. The blue light that your phone emits is extremely harmful for the eyes and Honor 8C’s display keeps a check on it aiding your eyes.

Low-light face unlock: As the sub-head suggests, you can unlock your Honor 8C with face unlock under low-light conditions.

Like I mentioned, Honor 8C is a midrange phone when it comes to the price point but when it is about specs and features, it is a total steal deal!

What is TUV Rheinland Certification and how Honor is associated with them

TUV Rheinland is basically a technical service provider that was founded in 1872 and is headquartered in Cologne, Germany. They started as a regional testing organisation but in course of time they became one of the authorities in global certification. Many of the biggest brands of the world flaunt it with pride if any of their product earns a TUV Rheinland certificate. As you can guess easily, Honor has also got not one but two TUV Rheinland certifications for two different products – Honor 8X and Honor 8C.

Both the devices have got TUV Rheinland certifications for their displays which offer top notch eye comfort. Honor 8X and Honor 8C secured this enviable certification thanks to their outstanding blue light filter and photo biological safety.

Having a flashy display is any day a welcome addition to any smartphone but your eyes are also precious, aren’t they?

How does Honor 8C look like when it’s not in a professional photoshoot

We all have by now seen Honor 8C in its full glory. I mean the look and feel of it. But I believe most of us have just seen photos of the device available on any form of media, be it offline or online. Said so, we all know things are pretty different when it comes to a studio production. Sometimes the real appearance of a product is masked by the controlled acoustics blocking a real life visual. So I thought of taking some photos of the Honor 8C that I got to experience for some time and share with you guys.

All these images are without any filter and edits. So the colour of the device is exactly the same as you have seen in the above images. The display and resolution are also as clear in real as they are in the photos. Guys, this is a 11,999 INR device with a 4000 mAh battery, 13MP+2MP dual AI camera and Snapdragon 632 processor. Only thing left was the real life look. Hope this was helpful.

Honor View 20 is coming with three World first technologies!

Honor View 20 is just round the corner and we simply can’t keep quiet! A massive device from the house of Honor, Honor View 20 is going to change the smartphone scene in its head! We hear that this device is coming with not one but three World first technologies – a stunning 48MP rear camera, the HONOR All-View Display and the Magic Turbo. Let’s shed some light on each technology:

World’s first 48MP rear camera: Honor View 20 is the first smartphone on earth which has a 48MP rear camera. I mean, it’s simply insane! The 48MP rear camera with Sony IMX586 sensor is set to herald a new era of smartphone photography. The camera is the first to make possible high-definition 48 effective megapixels photography on a smartphone, delivering top quality images with more and better details even when zoomed in. The technology, coupled with the AI computing power and graphic processing power enabled by the Kirin 980 chipset, will allow the users to collate the essence in multiple photos taken by the 48MP camera and create a 48MP AI high-definition image. HONOR provides users with unmatched photo quality and clarity, rivaling high-end single-lens reflex cameras. This is just AWESOME!!!

Honor All-View display: Like the name itself suggests, All-View display is a bezel-less wonder that Honor View 20 is going to flaunt. This world-first, in-screen front camera design, achieved by an extremely complex 18-layer technology stack that carefully embeds the front camera in the display area of the screen, extends the display area to almost 100%. The innovative HONOR All-View Display solution demonstrates HONOR’s unmoving dedication to usher the evolution of the full-view display, all the way from the 18:9 bezel-less screen of the 1.0 era through the notched screen of the 2.0 era, to the revolutionary 3.0 era. I wonder how the competition is going to fight this!

Magic Turbo: Then comes something called the Magic Turbo. These are the times when people spend most of their time on smartphones and Honor has just made life easy for us. It leverages the AI functionality and big data technologies and automatically analyses users’ usage models and network conditions to switch seamlessly between Wi-Fi or 4G networks and boost downloading speed by simultaneously adopting both networks.

Honor 8X vs Redmi Note 6 Pro: GPU Turbo gives Honor the edge

This is the continuation of my series of Honor 8X vs Redmi Note 6 Pro stories. In my last post, I discussed about the camera prowess of both the devices. They come with AI cameras but Honor 8X’s 20MP+2MP setup outscores Redmi Note 6 Pro’s 12MP+5 MP setup. To sum it up, processor, screen and cameras – everywhere Honor 8X beats Redmi Note 6 Pro.

So today, we are discussing something that Honor 8X has and Redmi Note 6 Pro does not. It is called the GPU (Graphic Processing Unit) Turbo technology. Honor has this tech in some of their past phones like Honor Play also and it is a kickass thing to have.

The innovative GPU Turbo technology also finds a place in Honor 8X making it a tough competition in its category. So what does this tech do? First, it enhances high graphic performances. It enables you to have a smooth gaming experience while playing high octane games like PubG.

Second, GPU Turbo makes sure that your battery consumption is to the minimal. Third, it makes sure that there is no frame drop which leads to a lag-free experience. So now you can see what powers Honor 8X to a mind-blowing performance. Redmi Note 6 Pro does not have any such tech to enhance performance.

Camera comparison-Honor 8X vs Redmi Note 6 Pro

This is the third post on my series of Honor 8X vs Redmi Note 6 Pro. In my last post, I discussed in details the screen of both the devices. With better screen to body ratio and aspect ratio, Honor 8X won the battle fair and square.

Today, let’s discuss their cameras.

Times are here when a smartphone is often judged on its camera prowess. Better camera ensures the longevity of any smartphone. So Honor 8X packs a stunning 20MP+2 MP AI dual camera setup on the rear. Redmi Note 6 Pro also offers AI camera but it comes in 12MP+5MP setup. Mega Pixel battle won by Honor 8X.

Now coming to AI functionality of both the cameras, Honor 8X’s AI is tad superior to what Note 6 Pro offers. The former’s AI helps better scene recognition and colour correction.

Photos are not just memories anymore, they are also the extension of your persona. So let’s not take them for granted!

Processor comparison-Honor 8X vs Redmi Note 6 Pro

This is the continuation of my series – Honor 8X vs Redmi Note 6 Pro. In my last post, I discussed about the screen comparison between both the devices. Honor 8X clearly won that battle with better screen to body ratio and aspect ratio.

Today I will be comparing their processors. Often considered the brain of a smartphone, the processor defines performance. Let’s see what happens today.

Honor 8X is powered by the latest 710 processor from the house of Honor’s mother brand Huawei. It is a stunning processor and only second to the premium Kirin 970. Redmi Note 6 Pro on the other hand, comes with Snapdragon 636.

Here also Honor 8X wins the battle. Let’s show you how. Kirin 710 is based on a 12nm manufacturing process which is better than the 14nm manufacturing of Snapdragon 636. Kirin 710 helps saves battery life and enables multi-tasking.

Screen comparison: Honor 8X vs Redmi Note 6 Pro

Hello friends, I have decided to run a small series of comparison between Honor 8X and Redmi Note 6 Pro. This is the first post of that series and today I will throw some light on the screen segment of both the devices.

First up, let’s discuss the screen to body ratio of both the devices. Honor 8X comes with 91% screen to body ratio which is impressive for a phone of its category. On the other hand, Redmi Note 6 Pro has a 81% screen to body ratio, noticeably lower than the former.

Now let’s check out one more important element of the screen, the aspect ratio. Honor 8X comes with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Redmi Note 6 Pro on the other hand, offers an aspect ratio of 19:9. The higher aspect ratio ensures more real estate on the screen. The extremely narrow bezels and the thin chin of the Honor 8X owes it to the aspect ratio.

What makes Honor 8X superior to Redmi Note 6 Pro?

Honor 8X and Redmi Note 6 Pro are two of the most hyped smartphones of 2018. Both the devices are often pitched against each other for their uncanny similarities. To some extent, they are actually similar products; but a close look reveals that Honor 8X comes with several perks which differentiates both the devices.

Let’s explore what makes Honor 8X a superior smartphone:

Look and feel: So let’s start with the look and feel of both the devices. Honor 8X comes with 2.5 D glass design which lends it a very suave and posh touch. Redmi Note 6 Pro, on the other hand, comes in their usual metal casing. Tad too old fashioned and monotonous, I have to say.

Display: Honor 8X comes with a 6.5 inch FHD+ display; not to speak of the stunning notch design. Redmi Note 6 Pro also comes with a notch design but its display is tad smaller at 6.26 inch. But one thing I need to mention here. Honor 8X is the first smartphone to get a TUV Rheinlad Certification for eye comfort. TUV Rheinland is a worldwide testing and certification institution who has certified Honor 8X for its outstanding blue light filter and photo biological safety. It’s not just about how flashy the display looks but also about your eye care!

Screen: Honor 8X comes with 91% screen to body ratio with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. Redmi Note 6 Pro, on the other hand, has 81% screen to body ratio with 19:9 aspect ratio. As you can see, Honor 8X offers more real estate on the screen as compared to Redmi Note 6 Pro. Moreover, Honor 8X has extremely narrow bezels and a stunningly thin chin!

Processor: The processor is often called the brain of a smartphone so it’s very important that we discuss it in detail. Honor 8X is powered by the latest Kirin 710 processor whereas Redmi Note 6 Pro comes with Snapdragon 636. Kirin 710 is based on a 12 nm manufacturing process which is better than the 14 nm manufacturing process of the Snapdragon 636. It helps save the battery and do multi-tasking.

Camera: Honor 8X flaunts a 20MP+2MP AI dual camera setup. Redmi Note 6 Pro comes with a 12MP+5MP AI dual camera. Both the devices have AI cameras but Honor 8X’s camera offers better colour quality and accurate scene recognition. Photos are not just memories anymore, they are also an extension of your persona. So let’s not take them for granted.

Now let’s talk about two additional features that Honor 8X brings which is not even present in Redmi Note 6 Pro:

GPU Turbo: Honor 8X comes with the innovative GPU Turbo technology which makes sure that there is no battery heating, less battery consumption and no frame drops leading to a lag-free experience.

3 card slot: Honor 8X flaunts a 3-card slot helping you manage 2 SIM cards and 1 MicroSD card at the same time. On the other hand, Redmi Note 6 Pro comes with a hybrid dual SIM tray.

Honor 10 shows flagship prowess – wins big at Exhibit Tech Awards 2018

Launched in the mid of 2018, Honor 10 has not yet lost its sheen and the recent Exhibit Tech Award stands testimony to this fact. The stunning smartphone from the house of Honor has been awarded the Camera Phone of the year for 2018! I mean, that’s how flagship devices should be! At least longer shelf life than non-flagships and longer consumer recall.

The award show was held in Mumbai on November 19 and Mr. Suhail Tariq, CMO – Honor, represented the brand at the event.

Honor has always been known for its camera technology and constant innovation in visual ideology. In fact, they became the pioneers of AI photography in India when they launched Honor View 10. Their supremacy in smartphone photography reached the pinnacle with Honor 10.

Honor shines bright during festivities and sets an example of ethical business ideology

Young and dynamic smartphone brand Honor, who stands For The Brave, has once again showed that it practices what it preaches. When most of the smartphone brands operating in India decided on a price hike citing the excuse of Indian Rupee’s falling status against the USD, Honor stood their ground and did not hike a single penny on any of their product!

Xiaomi, who often takes pride in being a major player in India, even shamelessly covered their unethical act by presenting a veil of honesty which is of no use at all. Check out the tweet from their India MD, Manu Kumar Jain:

But Mr. Jain, we don’t need an excuse for the price hike; you can justify any action by offering a random excuse. What’s more important is your intent and we got it! If you look at the bottom of the tweet, you will notice that this was on November 10th. Now let’s see how your good deeds pays you dividends. Honor didn’t opt for price hike in India and on the very next day in China (11th November), on Single’s Day sale, Honor became the No.1 brand on both JD.com and Tmall.com, two of the country’s leading e-commerce platforms!

Drawing reference to the dateline again, Xiaomi went for the price hike right after the Diwali sale. They have definitely sold a good amount of products but that doesn’t mean that they try to recover the discount amount with such a gimmick. Honor also sold over a million devices during Diwali which recorded a stunning 300% YoY growth as compared to 2017. Honor 9N became a star product on Flipkart and Honor 8X was the best seller in 12K-15K category on Amazon India. But despite such massive customer response, Honor chose against milking more out of the situation. Their prices are the same and I am sure they are not going to hike them even by a dime.

Everyone makes money but what differentiates you is the fact the how much humane you are in your business endeavours. Honor knows this and it’s clear they follow it!

Xiaomi India trying to cover for price hike under the veil of honesty

This is an India specific story but I believe all of us around the world should give it a read as Xiaomi goes bonkers to sell themselves as a global brand. Yes, they have global reach and that is why we did not expect such a stunt from them. Now let’s throw light to the issue under question with a little backdrop to India’s current economic condition.

It is not hidden from anyone that India is not having a smooth sailing when it comes to its standing in the global currency battle. The Indian Rupee is constantly seeing a dip as against the USD, the stock market on a bumpy ride and all those jazz. But these things are quite normal for a country of India’s magnitude and population. Yet some business organisations make a big deal out of it and see these times as an opportunity to milk in more moolah. Unethical it may sound but that is the truth. Now let’s come to the point of Xiaomi joining that wagon of opportunistic business organisations.

Xiaomi has been trying hard to show their ‘Indian connect’ with the help of many antics, one of which is appointing an Indian face as the mouthpiece of their India business. But what is the use of such gimmicks when you don’t really care about your own customers? Following is the tweet from Xiaomi India’s Managing Director Manu Kumar Jain. I believe many of you have already seen it.

As you can see, they have conveniently hiked the price of some of their products under the veil of Indian Rupee’s falling status against USD. What’s worse, they have tried to project themselves as an honest player by coming out in public with the reason behind the price hike. See, honesty is one thing but this is the type of honesty which has no relevance whatsoever. More so when there are brands, that too international brands, who have not at all raised their prices with the excuse of INR’s falling status.

Honor is one such brand who despite being an international name have decided not to milk this condition. Their products are well received and as a matter of fact, are superior to Xiaomi’s when it comes to design and innovation. But they have not hiked a single penny on any of their products. Now, this is called being sensitive towards the natives! I believe Xiaomi has a lot to learn from Honor when it comes to being empathetic and supportive towards the locals.
