Honor 9N launch is the talk of the town

After days of speculation and unbearable suspense, the Honor 9N sees the light of the day in New Delhi today. Launched with all pomp and gaiety at a stunning event in Delhi’s Andaz Hotel, Honor 9N shone like a star in a far off galaxy.

I have been following the buzz around this phone for a while now and was smitten by its features and looks. So when I got the chance to be in the launch event today, I grabbed it with both hands. The hospitality of Honor is well known and today was no different. After an elaborate breakfast, guests and media personnel were treated with a spectacular launch session.    

Things were kick started by P Sanjeev, VP Sales, who took the energy level to new heights with his enthusiastic speech about how Honor continues to be the fastest growing smartphone brand in India. The numbers were really impressive and I could hear a few fellow guests appreciating them with muted hmmms and ummms.

Post that CMO Suhail Tariq showcased Honor’s commitment to the fan base and threw light on various non-business activities to engage fans in a very positive manner.

The product launch part was headed by senior marketing lead, Clinton Jeff who amid all the hype, took the audience through the amazing device. As an audience member, I am really impressed with the way Honor has designed the new phone.

I was really happy to see the notch design on Honor 9N. I had been hearing about the notch from various leaks and it seems that the leaks were indeed real. The notch in Honor 9N is way smaller than the iPhone notch and offers more screen space for reading, video viewing and gaming.

Glass body with mirror like finish lend the phone a very premium look. I have to mention the colour variants here. Apart from the classic Midnight Black and Sapphire Blue, Honor 9N comes in two more stunning shades – the Lavender Purple and Robin Egg Blue.

Camera has always been Honor’s stronghold and Honor 9N sticks to this core area. The 16MP front camera with 4 in 1 light fusion technology enables you to click well-lit selfies even in low light scenarios. The 13+2MP rear dual camera is capable of capturing wonderful images with professional level bokeh effect.

Now, the most amazing part of the phone, its price. Leaks got it wrong though. Unlike what was circling around, Honor 9N’s 3GB + 32GB variant comes at 11,999 INR and the 4GB + 64GB variant costs 13,999 INR. It is way to lower than what the leaks speculated.

What The Buzz: Honor 9N Leaked and we can’t keep calm!!!

I had been hearing about this new phone in the block from Honor which is touted to be a game changer with stunning features. Named Honor 9N, this upcoming phone is generating a lot of buzz in the market and it had kept me busy for the past few days. And guess what, there is finally a leak!

I stumbled upon this pic online while looking for more info on Honor 9N. As you can see, it appears that Honor online portal uploaded this for testing but somehow the leak took place. From the pic, it is clear that this phone comes with a stunning notch design which lends the device a premium look. This promise more real estate on the display for an immersive viewing experience. The 19:9 aspect ratio also suggests that Honor 9N is going to be a real visual delight.

As the leak reveals, it has a 16MP front camera. Honor is always known for its revolutionary camera tech and has redefined mobile photography. So we can hope stunning results from this camera as well.

Now comes the surprise element, the price of this phone. This is a glass design phone with a notch. You can just imagine the price range of such a device in the market currently. Well, get ready to be pleasantly surprised, Honor 9N costs just 19,999 INR! It is the definition of a steal deal.

Myth breaking: Flagship devices with notch are pocket burners

With great power comes great responsibility and with great smartphones come great amount of myths. One such myth is that flagship notch devices are bound to burn a hole in your pocket. I mean it is true to some extent but now I have come across a device which is totally going to break this myth.

I am going to elaborate this a little later.

I have always been looking to own a notch device but I never understood why flagship notch devices are exorbitantly expensive. Apple pioneered it and we all know how illogical Apple is when it comes to pricing. Soon many copycats came up with notch and they also put up a higher price tag on their me-too devices. Just to give you an idea, OnePlus 6 costs a whopping 34,999 INR, Asus Zenfone 5Z comes at 32,990 and Vivo X21 makes you poor by 35,990.

See, I understand technology has a cost but when sense dawns upon you, you also realise that these brands are making a fool out of you. So coming to the question under discussion, why notch phones are sky high and how come this myth become so formidable? So I did some research on my own and came across an upcoming device from the house of Honor and am I impressed?!    

Let me be clear here – the following is all based on leaks and speculation stories, so don’t come to bite me later. So yeah, the phone I stumbled upon is speculated to be called Honor 9N. At first, I thought it was a follow up to the immensely successful Honor 9 Lite but when I dug deep, I got to know that it is nothing like that.

We all know what a splendid smartphone Honor 9 Lite is. One of the best phones from Honor, this device has sold over a million units in India and it speaks volumes about its success. I am using the phone myself and I can vouch for it. Apart from being a good looking phone with unmatched value for its price, Honor 9 Lite has a few very cool tricks up its sleeve. Shoot like a pro now! Honor 10 now has EIS

I have been using the wonderful Honor 10 for some time now. It is an amazing device with features that can give any phone in its category a run for their money. I mean, this is an AI phone with a camera that can even be put at par with the iPhone! Only difference, iPhone costs you a fortune for a camera of this quality and Honor 10 comes at just 32,999 INR.

Still photography has seen new highs since the advent of Honor 10 but when it came to video recording, one thing I found always missing in the otherwise excellent device. Yes, you got it right, it’s EIS (Electronic Image stabilization). EIS basically is an image enhancement technique which helps you record jitter-free videos without any tripod.

When you are shooting with your phone, it is almost understood that you are using it on the go. But the jumps in your video generated by your movement is a huge hindrance. It makes the video look like an amateur effort. But with the latest OTA update, Honor 10 get the much anticipated EIS.

Recently I went for a trek in Himachal Pradesh in northern India and thought that it was the perfect opportunity to test the EIS on my Honor 10. I held the phone in my hand and recorded long videos while I was up the trek and the results were amazing.
