Honor launches Honor View 20 in China

Honor has launched its latest flagship phone – the Honor View 20 in China today. HONOR View20 will be available with the price starting from RMB 2,999. The official sale in China will start from December 28.

The HONOR View20 is equipped with the world’s first high-definition 48MP rear 3D TOF camera and a front-facing 25MP camera integrated into the display. This innovative All-View display design doesn’t impact the display function – instead, it allows a notch-less viewing experience, achieves a stunning 91.8% body-to-screen ratio, and enables users to take the best photos possible, all at the same time.

From a design perspective, HONOR View20 breaks the mould of traditional flagship smartphones in both dimension and style. It is the first smartphone to use advanced nanolithography technology to develop an invisible nano texture on the body. The fourth generation of nano-vacuum coating and invisible aurora texture process create a vivid and dynamic V-shape color gradient with gleaming effect. Furthermore, HONOR has unveiled a crossover collaboration with Italian fashion brand MOSCHINO and launched the HONOR View20 MOSCHINO joint design edition.

World’s first ultra-clarity 48MP 3D TOF rear camera

For smartphone photography, nothing is more important than photo quality and clarity, and HONOR View20 is bringing these measures to new highs. The rear camera of the HONOR View20 the first ever to be powered by the Sony IMX586 stacked CMOS image sensor, which features 48 effective megapixels on a ½-inch sensor (0.8 um/pixel) unit to deliver excellent image quality. As a result, you’ll see richer details and more vibrant colors in the AI-optimized shots taken with the HONOR View20. In addition, the dual-NPU and dual-ISP Kirin 980 chipset has improved the image and camera processing capabilities of the phone by 134% and 46% respectively. Combined with the already astonishing power of the camera’s 48MP sensor, the result is unprecedented mobile photography potential.

Another trimming of this remarkable rear camera is its 3D functionality which makes the phone capable of creating a new dimension in photography and videography that brings greater usability and fun to users. The 3D camera is a range imaging camera system that calculates distance based upon the time-of-flight of a light signal.

Extraordinary All-View display with in-screen camera

The notched display, one of 2018’s most popular trends, was developed to satisfy the demand for a higher screen-to-body ratio. However, there are limits to what can be done with this solution. Just as we are eager to see how smartphone manufacturers are going to take the design a step further, the HONOR View20 comes on stage, sporting an extraordinary All-View display with an in-screen front camera, heralding a new era of display design. A super small hole with a diameter of only 4.5mm instead of 6.0mm is created at the top left corner to house the front-facing camera and making for a considerable increase in display area. Instead of drilling a hole that penetrates through all layers of the screen with only a glass panel covers the camera as rivals do, HONOR retains a few layers by adopting a special technique called pixel transition technology, an extremely complex 18-layer technology stack. This technique effectively reduces the impact on the display structure to improve durability and cuts down the interference of the light from the display to improve overall photo quality. The 18 layers of complex processes are refined, so that the display area of a new screen camera is significantly reduced, bringing users a near 100% full screen experience.

Honor 8X simply refuses to stay out of the news. First, they became a best-seller in Amazon sales, then the stunning red colour variant hits the stands and now we get to know that there is something called AI shopping which is totally going to change the way you looked at shopping.

First, you need to download Amazon Assistant app on your Honor 8X and then there are two ways to use the AI shopping tool.

1.     Point the camera to anything you want to buy and tap on the extreme left icon on the screen. The AI will automatically search it online and give you results on Amazon.

Honor 8X vs Redmi Note 6 Pro: GPU Turbo gives Honor the edge

This is the continuation of my series of Honor 8X vs Redmi Note 6 Pro stories. In my last post, I discussed about the camera prowess of both the devices. They come with AI cameras but Honor 8X’s 20MP+2MP setup outscores Redmi Note 6 Pro’s 12MP+5 MP setup. To sum it up, processor, screen and cameras – everywhere Honor 8X beats Redmi Note 6 Pro.

So today, we are discussing something that Honor 8X has and Redmi Note 6 Pro does not. It is called the GPU (Graphic Processing Unit) Turbo technology. Honor has this tech in some of their past phones like Honor Play also and it is a kickass thing to have.

The innovative GPU Turbo technology also finds a place in Honor 8X making it a tough competition in its category. So what does this tech do? First, it enhances high graphic performances. It enables you to have a smooth gaming experience while playing high octane games like PubG.  

Second, GPU Turbo makes sure that your battery consumption is to the minimal. Third, it makes sure that there is no frame drop which leads to a lag-free experience. So now you can see what powers Honor 8X to a mind-blowing performance. Redmi Note 6 Pro does not have any such tech to enhance performance.

This is the third post on my series of Honor 8X vs Redmi Note 6 Pro. In my last post, I discussed in details the screen of both the devices. With better screen to body ratio and aspect ratio, Honor 8X won the battle fair and square.

Today, let’s discuss their cameras.

Times are here when a smartphone is often judged on its camera prowess. Better camera ensures the longevity of any smartphone. So Honor 8X packs a stunning 20MP+2 MP AI dual camera setup on the rear. Redmi Note 6 Pro also offers AI camera but it comes in 12MP+5MP setup. Mega Pixel battle won by Honor 8X.

Now coming to AI functionality of both the cameras, Honor 8X’s AI is tad superior to what Note 6 Pro offers. The former’s AI helps better scene recognition and colour correction.

Photos are not just memories anymore, they are also the extension of your persona. So let’s not take them for granted!
