OnePlus 6 Face Unlock is a dud that got fooled by a printed photograph

OnePlus 6 made lots of hullabaloo with its Face Unlock feature but it seems that it was all sound and noise but no substance. A twitter user @rikvduijn made a video where tested the efficiency of the device’s face unlock and the result was pathetic and we don’t know if it was even funny! The user asked one of his friends to hold a paper cut of his face and tried unlocking his OnePlus 6 and guess what, it unlocked as if nothing absurd was there!

This is actually a threat to all the OnePlus 6 users who bought the device banking on its face unlock. Now it is obvious that this feature on the phone is not at all safe. OnePlus took a note of it and issued a statement where they accepted the failure and asked users to use password/ fingerprint/ PIN for unlocking the device. HILARIOUS!

Honor 7A vs Redmi 5: Additional features that wins the war for Honor

In the final post of my comparison series between Honor 7A and Redmi 5, I will be focusing on a handful of additional features in the former which gets the winning stroke for Honor 7A.

Honor 7A is an amazing device which introduces you to the future with a handful of next generation specs and features. The device was launched in China and it made its presence felt like a pro. The buzz reached India and it was a matter time the Honor 7A was to be launched in one of the most competitive smartphone markets in the world. So it happened in May 22 when it made its India debut and created ripples across tech media and tech aficionados. This device is a straight competition to Redmi 5 when it comes to many of its features. Like I mentioned earlier, I will be discussing some features which give Honor 7A an edge over Redmi 5.

First, I have to mention the dedicated SIM card and SD card slots which give the user the liberty to choose between two SIM cards simultaneously. It also enables you to expand the phone memory through a SD card slot. Then there is the Ride Mode which makes your rides safe and hassle-free. Turn it on and focus on the road. If you are a music lover, this is the phone you should go for as its speakers are clearly louder than that of Redmi 5’s. Honor 7A’s speakers are capable of producing higher sound levels which range up to 87 decibels.

Final Verdict: As you have seen, I have compared Honor 7A and Redmi 5 in all its aspects. Be it camera, OS, Face Unlock, Ride Mode and superior speakers, Honor 7A is the clear winner.

Honor 7A vs Redmi 5: Face Unlock takes the cake for Honor

In this series, I will be comparing Honor 7A and Redmi 5. This is the fourth post on my detailed review. Stay tuned for other feature reviews on this space.

On my last post, I discussed what makes Honor 7A’s front camera a better option and this post will talk about something which is truly futuristic in Honor 7A and Redmi 5 doesn’t feature.

First up let’s re-establish the fact that Honor 7A comes in a price under 10,000 INR and this is the real catch when I am going to discuss the aforementioned feature. Honor 7A comes with Face Unlock which is going to up the game for its competitors including Redmi 5. There are occasions when your hands are busy or are wet and you have to unlock your phone. Face unlock comes handy in those situations. Moreover, it is such a good feeling that you can unlock your phone with just a glance. You feel a connect between you and your device! This also ensures safety for your phone. Face unlock means no one can unlock your phone even if they manage to sneak out the PIN and pattern!

Honor 7A vs Redmi 5: superior front camera is a winner in Honor

In this series, I will be comparing Honor 7A and Redmi 5. This is the third post on my detailed review. Stay tuned for other feature reviews on this space.

Honor 7A is an amazing device which introduces you to the future with a handful of next generation specs and features. The device was launched in China and it made its presence felt like a pro. The buzz reached India and it was a matter time the Honor 7A was to be launched in one of the most competitive smartphone markets in the world. This device is a straight competition to Redmi 5 when it comes to many of its features. On my last post, I discussed what makes Honor 7A’s rear camera a better option and this post will talk about its front camera supremacy.

Selfies are no more a necessity now when you had no one to click your photo; they are rather a lifestyle statement. With the passage of time, we have seen smartphones working on their front shooter but Redmi 5 perhaps took this point for granted and Honor capitalised on it. So Honor 7A comes with an 8MP front camera as compared to Redmi 5’s 5MP front camera. Higher megapixel means clearer images and no pixilation in case of zooming. Honor 7A’s front camera is ideal for clear selfies and better colour.

Honor 7A vs Redmi 5: dual camera wins it for Honor

In this series, I will be comparing Honor 7A and Redmi 5. This is the second post on my detailed review.

So it happened in May 22 when it made its India debut and created ripples across tech media and tech aficionados. This device is a straight competition to Redmi 5 when it comes to many of its features. On my last post, I discussed what makes Honor 7A a better phone in terms of OS; this post will talk about its camera supremacy.

Let’s admit it, these are the times of dual cameras and Honor 7A understands it like anything. That’s the reason why they have incorporated dual camera setup in a handset which costs less than 10,000 INR. The primary dual camera of this device is a 13MP+2MP setup which outdoes Redmi 5’s 12MP shooter. The depth detection of Honor 7A is amazing which results into beautiful hardware level bokeh effect. You will notice that your photos are sharper than the ones clicked by Redmi 5. Try taking a portrait shot with Honor 7A and you will understand the difference.

Honor 7A vs Redmi 5: Experience speed with Honor

In this series, I will be comparing Honor 7A and Redmi 5. This is the first post on my detailed review.

So it happened in May 22 when it made its India debut and created ripples across tech media and tech aficionados. This device is a straight competition to Redmi 5 when it comes to many of its features. One of the most prominent is its lighting fast operation.

I have used Redmi 5 in the past and have experienced Honor 7A and I can say that the latter is hands down the faster of the two. So what makes Honor 7A such a fast device? Well, the answer is Android 8.0 as compared to Redmi 5’s Android 7.0. The updated OS in Honor 7A ensures that your phone boots up fast and saves you some time. This also contributes to make your phone safer than before. You will also notice that your apps will open faster and cut down operating time. Android 8.0 also helps preserve battery life by limiting background apps. Not to miss out on, this advanced phone also ensures multi-tasking by enabling you to operate on different windows without closing any of them.

Is the dual camera going to be obsolete sooner than we expected?

Remember the good old days when we used to marvel at the advent of mobile cameras? Life became so easy; no need to carry those bulky cameras, no need to lose sleep over films getting exposed to sunlight, no worries over finding a good studio to develop photos and yes, most importantly, instant photo for the sheer pleasure of viewing. Then time changed and changed pretty fast. The megapixel war escalated and the game entered the dual camera zone. Players were doing fine but suddenly came a phone named Huawei P20 Pro which introduced world’s first triple camera setup.

This marked the beginning of a new dawn but P20 Pro is a high-end device and we thought it would take some time for midrange devices to sport that feature. But it seems we were wrong. Huawei’s e-brand Honor is actually planning to introduce triple camera in its upcoming models! Its recently launched Honor 10 does have AI camera technology but it still carried the dual camera setup. Sources reveal that Honor is going to draw inspiration from its parent brand and will bring triple camera in its future devices. Honor may bring its laptops to India this year

Honor is so far known as a smartphone manufacturer in India with a fleet of impressive devices that have changed the mobile phone market in the country. With phones like Honor 8 Pro, Honor 9 lite, Honor 9i, Honor 7X, Honor 10 and the recently launched Honor 7A and 7C, this young brand is making it clear that it is going to topple many past players.

A recent survey has even reported that Honor is the fastest growing smartphone brand in India with 146% of growth rate. Popular brands like Xiaomi and OnePlus are far behind and are feeling the heat. And it seems that Honor is not yet satisfied; they are planning to bring their brand of laptops to India pretty soon.

This is revealed by P Sanjeev, vice-president sales at Huawei India-Consumer Business Group himself. Huawei is the parent company for Honor and Mr Sanjeev shared this bit of information on the sidelines of the launch of the Honor 7A and Honor 7C. In a clear hint that Honor is looking to expand its product portfolio, we can expect to see some niche laptops in India in coming times.

Honor launched its first-ever branded laptop in China, the MagicBook last month. The Windows 10-powered Honor MagicBook costs couples of dollars less than Apple’s MacBook Air. It costs 4,999 yuan in China with Core i5 (approx. 54,000 INR) and 5,6999 yuan with Core i7 (approx. 61,000 INR). Honor phones have always been pioneers in innovative technology and we can expect the same from Honor MagicBook.

Honor’s most successful device in India: Honor 9 Lite sells over 1 million units

Honor mobiles has already made its presence felt in India with a flurry of launches in the past few months. They are coming up with innovative devices and continuously shaking the base of established players. They may not admit to it but they for sure know that they have got a fierce competitor now. According to Counterpoint’s (global research firm) reports, Honor with 146% growth rate is the fastest growing brand in India!

Keeping true to its rising stature in the country, Honor has just announced that Honor 9 Lite has sold over a million units in India since its launch. We have to keep in mind that the device was launched in January this year as a Flipkart exclusive. This comes right after the recently concluded Flipkart Shopping Days where the same device came out to be the best selling smartphone during the sale.

Honor 10 sells out in Europe on the opening day itself

Honor 10 promised great things for the future when it was unveiled in China a few weeks ago. Volumes had been written and spoken about the flagship device before its global launch and when it did happen on 15 May, we got to see that the phone is worth the hype! A never seen before colour, amazing camera with AI technology, mesmerising display and a lighting fast processor make Honor 10 an absolute hit. And numbers are telling that its success march has just begun!

And it not that I am saying this without any proof. Reports have come out that Honor 10 has been sold out in Europe within 24 hours of its launch. Honor has not revealed the exact number of units being sold but it did mention that there were 80,000 coupon codes used. This is an impressive number considering the fact that Honor 10 is pitched against the OnePlus 6. Just for the records, Spain sold out of Honor 10 in just six hours!

Why OnePlus 6 needs to worry about Honor 10?

OnePlus is launching a new device today. They have named it OnePlus 6 but in reality, it’s just a brushed up version of OnePlus 5T. It seems that the company had nothing new to come up and they decided to give 5T an upgrade with a name change. Yes, needless to say, the price tag is higher than 5T (obviously, something needed to be done to make it look like a new device after all).

This device however, is going to face tough competition from the recently launched Honor 10. The latter has already driven OnePlus 5T out of the race and possesses serious threat for OnePlus 6. On paper and on almost every specs and features, both Honor 10 and OnePlus 6 looks similar. There is a reason why I highlighted the word almost in the previous sentence as there are two main areas where Honor 10 outscores OnePlus 6 – the camera and the pricing.

OnePlus 6 comes with the same camera setup as 5T – dual lens 16MP + 20MP sensors with f1.7 aperture. The front camera packs a 16MP sensor with f2.0 aperture and auto HDR function. See, on first look, this is impressive though they sold the old camera setup in new packaging. But when you will get to know that Honor 10 has packed a wonderful 16MP + 24MP dual rear camera set up with face detection autofocus and LED flash, you will understand that OnePlus 6 has nothing much to fight with against Honor 10.

These are the selfie times and they are a part of our lifestyle now; so a better front camera is the deciding factor of a phone’s future. OnePlus 6 has a 16MP front camera which is decent enough. You however will tend to change your mind after you experience the 24MP front camera of Honor 10. This is a wonderful camera which captures selfies like you have never seen before.

On price point as well, Honor 10 proves to be more pocket-friendly. With all its glory and such amazing camera, Honor 10 is priced at 32,999 INR. OnePlus 6, on the other hand, starts from 36,000 INR.
