Taking a cue from Huawei? Apple working on triple camera setup in iPhone

Apple is often seen as a trend setter rather than a trend follower. They have been innovating epoch making features in mobile telephony world to keep the rest of the competition on its toe. Brands like Samsung, Xiaomi, OnePlus and Motorola have always come up with me-too products of the latest iPhone model. But it seems that Chinese tech major Huawei has just altered it!

Huawei’s P20 Series is a major hit ever since it hit the market, especially the P20 Pro which is, beyond doubt, one of the best smartphones available. This device has been compared to iPhone’s high end models and it seems that Apple has taken a serious note about it. Result – Apple is now working on triple camera setup in iPhones, an innovation pioneered by Huawei with P20 Pro.

Huawei P20 Pro’s triple camera is a revolutionary innovation where the Chinese tech giants have collaborated with German photography major Leica. The outcome of this collaboration is a wonderful camera setup comprising of a 40-megapixel colour sensor, a 20-megapixel monochrome sensor and an 8-megapixel telephoto lens, which gives the 3X optical zoom.

With an overall score of 109 points, the Huawei P20 Pro sets a new benchmark for smartphone cameras on DxOMark.com, outscoring all of its closest rivals, such as the Apple iPhone X, the Google Pixel 2, and the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus by a margin that is close to or higher than 10 points. Now this is path-breaking!

What kind of specifications Apple is going to put to its triple camera is not clear yet, but I believe it is going to be a straight competitor to Huawei P20 Pro’s shooter. I have already experienced P20 Pro and I can tell that the camera on this device is really kick-ass! Hope Apple lives up to their reputation after openly following Huawei’s footsteps.
