Honor 10 has been launched in China and it has promised to
be a game changer in the same category smartphone market. The global launch is
speculated to be happening somewhere around mid of May but thanks to the China
launch, we have the specs, features and price available with us. Once I went
through the numbers, I could not help but notice that Honor 10 is a direct
threat to OnePlus 5T. Not just that, it is bound to pose a serious threat to
the upcoming OnePlus 6. The specs of this phone is leaked here and there and
let me make it clear that it is going to be an interesting battle for
supremacy.
I am from India and here, Honor has come out as the fastest
growing smartphone brand. So I am very much excited to see how this fast
emerging brand gives already existing players a run for their money. With Honor
10 in line, I am looking forward to some real fireworks! Now let’s go to the
face-off between Honor 10 and OnePlus 5T:
Display comparison:
Honor 10 boasts of a 5.84-inch IPS LCD screen with Full HD+
1080×2280 pixels resolution. The 19:9 aspect ratio and a notch on top of the
front panel lend it a premium look. OnePlus comes with a 6.01-inch display with
1080 x 2160 pixels resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. Evidently, OnePlus 5T has
a little bigger display than Honor 10 but the latter wins the battle in terms
of pixels resolution, aspect ratio and the notch design.
Hardware, software
and battery comparison:
Honor 10 is powered by Kirin 970 processor with 6GB of RAM
and 64GB/128GB storage. The OS is Android 8.1 Oreo and the 3400mAh battery
supports the device with fast charging facility. OnePlus on the other hand is
backed by a Snapdragon 835 chipset paired with 6GB/8GB RAM and 64GB/128GB
storage. It runs Android 7.1.1 (Nougat) with a 3300mAh battery. Honor 10 wins
this round, courtesy a better OS.
Camera comparison:
These are times when the camera of a phone often decides its
fate. Moreover, a high quality camera means wonderful photos without carrying a
DSLR. Honor 10 has realised it well and has packed a wonderful 16MP + 24MP dual
rear camera set up with face detection autofocus and LED flash. The 16MP camera
has a RGB sensor while the 24MP one is a monochrome sensor. The impressive 24MP
front camera results into amazing selfies.
OnePlus 5Talso comes with dual rear cameras but it has a 16MP+
20MP setup. On the front, the phone carries a 16MP camera which is way lesser
than Honor 10’s 24MP front shooter.
Honor 10 outscores OnePlus 5T on both rear and front cameras.
Price comparison:
Honor 10’s 6GB RAM/64GB ROM variant comes at CNY
2,599 (approx. 27,370 INR) and the 6GB/128GB model is priced at CNY 2,999
(approx. 31,580 INR). OnePlus 5T 6GB/64GB variant’s price is 32,999 INR. The
8GB/128GB variant comes at 37,999 INR. On price point as well, Honor 10 comes
out as a clear winner as from the above comparison, it is evident that Honor 10
is a better smartphone than OnePlus 5T.
